What are the free tier limitations?

The free tier gives you 1 bank connection - one bank login, including every account under it - and manual syncing. You can sync as often as you like, but you'll need to click the sync button each time. Upgrade to Premium for unlimited banks and automatic daily syncing.

What counts as a 'sync'?

Accepted Answer

A sync is when Sheetful fetches your latest transactions from your bank and updates your Google Sheet. On the free plan, you trigger syncs manually. On Premium, syncs run automatically every day, and Plaid webhooks push new transactions as they land. Pending charges are not synced: a row appears once your bank posts the transaction, which is later than when the charge first shows up in your banking app.

Do you need to know spreadsheets to use Sheetful?

Not at all! We provide seven smart templates covering budgeting, spending, debt payoff, cash flow, business expenses, and more. They work out-of-the-box, and you can use them as-is or customize them to your liking. If you prefer to start from scratch, that works too.

Which banks does Sheetful support?

Sheetful supports 12,000+ banks and credit unions through Plaid. This includes all major banks like Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Citi, Capital One, and thousands more. If your bank has online banking, it's likely supported.

Question 7

Is Plaid safe? Why do you use it?

Accepted Answer

Yes, Plaid is extremely safe. It's used by Venmo, Robinhood, and Betterment, and 1 in 2 banked adults in the U.S. use Plaid. Plaid is SOC 2 Type II certified and encrypts credentials in transit and at rest. We use Plaid because it's the industry standard for secure bank connections. We never see or store your bank login credentials.

Can you add your partner's or household's accounts?

Yes, on Premium. Premium has no cap on bank connections, so every account you can log into, yours and the rest of your household's, syncs into the same spreadsheet under one $79/year subscription. There is no per-person price and no second plan to buy. Sharing the results works like any other file: share the Google Sheet or Excel workbook from Google Drive or OneDrive with whoever should see it. Note that Sheetful itself is one login per subscription, and each connection is made by logging into that bank through Plaid. The free tier is limited to 1 bank connection, so a second bank means Premium.

How do you reconnect a bank if the connection expires?

Go to your dashboard, find the bank with a warning icon, and click 'Reconnect'. You'll be guided through Plaid's secure login flow again. This takes about 30 seconds. We'll also email you when a connection needs attention.

Question 10

Do you store your bank username and password?

Accepted Answer

No. Absolutely not. When you connect a bank, you log in directly through Plaid's secure interface. Sheetful never sees, stores, or has access to your bank credentials. Plaid provides us with a secure token that allows read-only access to your transactions.

Can Sheetful move money or change your bank account?

No. Sheetful has read-only access to your transactions. We cannot transfer money, change account settings, or do anything except read your transaction history. We cannot modify your bank account in any way.

What Google Sheets permissions does Sheetful need?

Accepted Answer

Sheetful needs permission to create and edit Google Sheets on your behalf. This allows us to create sheets from templates and write your transaction data. We only access sheets you explicitly connect to Sheetful. We cannot see or access your other Google Sheets.

What Microsoft Excel permissions does Sheetful need?

When you connect Excel, Microsoft asks for Files.ReadWrite, User.Read, and offline access. That prompt is broader than Google's per-file Sheets permission: Graph does not offer an equivalent 'only files this app created' scope that works for personal OneDrive workbooks today. Sheetful uses it to create and update the Excel workbooks you connect. We do not use it to browse or edit your other files as a product feature. You can revoke access in your Microsoft account or by disconnecting Excel in Settings.

We offer seven smart templates across budgeting, planning, and business: Monthly Budget (50/30/20), Spending Tracker, Debt Payoff Planner, Expense Analysis, Cash Flow Forecasting, Smart Transaction Monitoring, and a Business Expense Tracker (Schedule C). The free tier includes one template; Premium unlocks all seven. Each is fully customizable.

Can you use your own existing spreadsheet?

Yes, on Premium. You can connect a Google Sheet you already own (pick it from Google Drive on the Sheets hub) or an Excel workbook you already have (paste its OneDrive link on the Excel hub). You can link one spreadsheet you already own and one Excel workbook you already own. Linking a different one replaces it, and the rows already written stay in the file you linked before. The seven templates are separate. Sheetful writes transactions to a single tab that you choose when you connect (the 'Tab name' field, which defaults to 'Transactions'). If that tab does not already exist, Sheetful adds it on Google Sheets. On Excel, name a tab that already exists; Sheetful will not add a worksheet to a file you linked. Sheetful only writes transaction rows to a spreadsheet you brought yourself, so the template extras like Summary and Balance History are not added to it, and the rest of your file stays untouched. If the tab you pick already has its own header row, Sheetful will not link it, because appending our columns underneath yours would produce unusable rows. This suits people who already have a budgeting system and want automated transaction data inside it. The free tier uses a Sheetful template instead.

What happens if you delete your connected sheet?

If you delete your connected Google Sheet, Sheetful will show an error the next time it tries to sync. Simply go to your dashboard and connect a new sheet (or create one from a template). Your transaction data in our database is safe and will sync to the new sheet.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover) through Stripe. We do not currently accept PayPal or bank transfers.

Is there a free trial?

Accepted Answer

Yes. New Premium subscriptions include a 14-day free trial. A payment method is required at checkout; you won't be charged until day 14. Cancel anytime before then and you won't pay a thing. After the trial you can continue on Premium or drop to the free tier (1 bank connection, manual sync).

How do you cancel your subscription?

Go to your dashboard, click 'Manage Subscription', then 'Cancel Subscription'. You keep Premium until the end of your billing period, then move to the free tier. No cancellation fees. On free, bank connections beyond the first are paused; if you leave them paused we email a reminder and then remove them after 30 days, so you would reconnect those banks if you came back. Your spreadsheets are never touched, and every row already written stays in them.

What is your refund policy?

Premium subscriptions are non-refundable, but you're never locked in. The free tier is forever-free with no card, so you can see real rows from your own bank before paying anything. New customers also get a 14-day free trial they can cancel before any charge; the trial is limited to one per customer, so if you have trialled before, checkout charges you straight away. Cancel anytime from Settings and you'll keep Premium through the end of the period you've already paid for, then move to the free tier.

Will your price increase over time?

You pay the price shown at checkout for the plan you choose ($79/year or $9.99/month). Renewals bill at the then-current price for that plan. If we change a plan's price, the new price applies at your next renewal, not during a period you have already paid for, and you can cancel anytime before then from Settings. Where the law requires notice of a price change, we will give that notice. The exception is Founders pricing: it stays at $49/year while your subscription remains active, and a lapsed subscription cannot re-enter at that price.

How is your data protected?

Traffic is encrypted in transit (TLS). Your Plaid and spreadsheet tokens are encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM. We're hosted on Vercel (SOC 2 Type II certified). We use Plaid for bank connections and Google OAuth for authentication. We never store passwords.

What data do you store?

We store your transaction history (date, merchant, amount, category), bank account metadata (bank name, account type, last 4 digits), and Google Sheet connection details. We do NOT store your bank credentials, full account numbers, or any login passwords.

Who can see your financial data?

Accepted Answer

You. Your data is isolated to your account, encrypted in transit and at rest, and your bank access tokens are additionally encrypted with AES-256-GCM so they are unreadable even to someone with database access. Transaction rows themselves are not separately encrypted, so in principle they are readable to the small number of people who administer the database. We access them only where it is necessary to operate or debug the service, and we do not use your financial data for anything else.

Can you export or delete your data?

Yes. You can export all your data as CSV from your dashboard at any time. To delete your account and all data, go to Settings > Delete Account. This removes your personal and financial data from our active systems within 30 days, and from encrypted disaster-recovery backups within a further 7 days. Security audit logs are kept for up to 90 days for fraud and compliance, then deleted. Backups are never used for anything but recovery.

Why isn't your bank syncing?

Common reasons: (1) Bank connection expired - reconnect via dashboard, (2) Bank maintenance - wait 1-2 hours and try again, (3) Google Sheet was deleted - connect a new sheet, (4) Account verification needed - check your email for instructions from Plaid. If none of these apply, check the Sync Logs page for detailed error messages.

Question 27

What does 'token expired' mean?

Banks sometimes require you to re-authorize a connection, and some revoke it if you change your password or your bank's own consent period runs out. When that happens you'll see a 'token expired' error. Reconnect your bank from the dashboard; it takes about 30 seconds. We email you when your bank tells us a connection needs reauthorizing, so you usually hear from us before you notice it yourself.

Question 28

Some transactions are missing. Why?

Plaid typically provides 90 days of transaction history when you first connect. Pending transactions may not appear until they settle (1-3 business days). If you're missing settled transactions older than 90 days, they won't be backfilled. Sheetful syncs forward from your connection date.

Question 29

Excel Online says your workbook was restored. What should you do?

Click Close. Do not restore an older version - that undoes the latest Sheetful sync. Excel Online sometimes shows this after Sheetful writes. The file that is open now is the current one.
